Referrals

If we cannot treat you, this is where you go

Some cases are beyond what a weekend clinic can do safely. Root canals, crowns, dentures, and wisdom teeth are the usual ones. We still examine you, tell you what is wrong, and send you on with a signed referral and your X-rays.

Where we send people

Texas A&M College of Dentistry

It is a dental school. Treatment is carried out by students under the supervision of licensed faculty, which is why it costs less than a private practice and why appointments run longer.

What they treat that we do not

  • Comprehensive dentistry
  • Endodontics, which is root canal treatment
  • Oral and maxillofacial surgery
  • Periodontics
  • Prosthodontics, which is crowns and dentures
  • Pediatric dentistry
  • Orthodontics
  • Oral pathology and imaging

Who to call

Ring the right line

Which number you dial decides how quickly you are seen. The first two are the ones most of our patients need.

  • Adult screening appointments

    (214) 828-8981

The main route in for anyone 18 or over. Start here unless the tooth needs to come out urgently.

  • Urgent tooth extraction

    (214) 828-8489

A tooth that needs removing now. Faster than the screening route. Does not handle wisdom teeth.

  • Wisdom teeth and oral surgery

    (214) 828-8228

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. All wisdom tooth cases go here.

  • Children's dental care

    (214) 828-8133

Under 18. Their children’s clinics do accept Medicaid and CHIP.

  • Orthodontics

    (214) 828-8121

    Braces and alignment.

  • Health records

    (214) 828-8217

Requesting copies of records already held there.

What it costs there

Their published prices

These are the figures Texas A&M publishes themselves. Where they do not publish a price, we say so rather than guess: a wrong number here sends somebody to Dallas with the wrong amount of money.

Published costs at Texas A&M College of Dentistry

Before you go

Four things that surprise people

  • Adult clinics do not take dental insurance

Their adult clinics do not accept it. The children’s clinics do accept Medicaid and CHIP.

  • You are screened before you are accepted

A screening decides whether your case suits their teaching programme. Not everybody is accepted, and if you are not, the adult screening fee is not charged.

  • Appointments run long

Students are learning and faculty check the work at each stage. Set aside considerably more time than a private practice would take.

  • It is a drive

They are on Gaston Avenue in Dallas, not in Garland. Plan the journey and the parking before the day.

What we send with you

If we refer you, you leave with a referral signed by our doctor and your radiographs attached. You do not have to explain your own case from memory. If anything is missing when you get there, email info@mcdc.care and we will send it again.
